pulsation

pulsation shows a nocturnal view over the city of Nicosia, looking across the UN buffer zone, from Greek to Turkish Cyprus. Imprinted on the mountains of Northern Cyprus and visible to the rest of the divided island, the provocative landmark of a Turkish Cypriot flag is stretched out on the mountain slopes and lights up at night. In pulsation this view has been synchronized with the sound generated by the lit flag’s operating system, hidden deep within the mountains, on the other side of the border. This oppressive symbol of identification resonates over the landscape like an ever determinative heartbeat.
