Bang [Ding Dong] (2023)
In Bang [Ding Dong] the filmmaker Meggy Rustamova visits a Belgian asylum seekers’ centre.
As a child the filmmaker was a refugee herself. The film starts with a class photograph from the early 1990s.
The children are invited to create their own photographs while learning Dutch. In this short film both moving images and photography are intertwined. With great sensitivity Rustamova employs photography, film and language to shed light on the daily experiences of young refugees.
